Just Women

Dear Sisters in Christ,

One of the greatest gifts of Disciples Women is the opportunity to learn, grow, and encourage one another in faith. Whether we gather around tables at retreats, share stories over coffee, or connect through technology, God continues to weave us together into a community of disciples seeking to follow Jesus more faithfully.

Coming from requests communicated to me at our recent Michigan Summer Retreat,  I am excited to invite you to a new opportunity for connection and spiritual growth: the Just Women Bible Study on Zoom.

Many of you are already familiar with Just Women, the annual Bible study publication of Disciples Women. Each issue offers twelve thoughtful studies and articles that invite us to explore scripture and deepen our faith. The 2026–2027 issue centers on the theme “Living the Abundant Life.”

Drawing from Genesis 1 and Jesus’ promise in John 10:10—”I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”—this year’s studies invite us to consider what it means to flourish as God’s beloved people. Together we will explore how God creates abundance, how we discover purpose and meaning, and how we can help create communities where others can thrive as well.

To journey through these studies together, we will gather on the second Wednesday of each month from 5:30–7:00 p.m. Central Time (6:30–8:00 p.m. Eastern Time). Each 90-minute session will include conversation, prayer, reflection, and Bible study in a welcoming environment where women of all ages and backgrounds can learn from one another.

We will hold an organizational meeting on October 14, 2026 to introduce the study, meet one another, and discuss how our gatherings will work. You do not need to have the 2026 issue of Just Women to attend and participate but if you do please have it available for our meeting.  We will meet again on November 11, 2026. After taking a break during December, we will begin our regular monthly schedule on  January 13, 2027.

You may pre-order Just Women 2027 – 2028, Living Toward the Promise: Stories of Hope. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ” Romans 15: 13 is the key verse for the 2027 study. We will start using this issue as soon as it is available in 2027.

I hope you will consider joining us. Whether you have participated in Bible studies for many years or are looking for a new way to engage scripture, there is a place for you in this community. Bring your questions, your experiences, your wisdom, and your curiosity. Together we will explore what deepening discipleship might look like in our own lives, our congregations, and our world.
