October 25, 2024
Hello, Illinois and Wisconsin Clergy,
It is time to renew your standing as clergy in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Standing Renewal begins Nov. 1st through Dec.1st. Letters and clergy cards will be mailed out no later than mid-January 2025. Please be prompt in renewing and follow the directions regarding emails.
Who Needs to Renew Standing?
- If you are a Commissioned or Ordained Disciples minister who is actively serving or acting in a ministerial capacity, you must fill out the form to maintain standing. If you have not completed the required ethics trainings or do not fill out the form, your standing will be removed. To be reinstated you will then be required to meet with the Committee on Ministry.
- Those who hold Retired Inactive status do not need to complete this process.
- If you would like to move your status to Retired Inactive please contact Peggy at [email protected].

Recording Clergy Ethics Training
The Regional Church Council acting on the recommendation of the Committee on Ministry, and the Committee on Ministerial Ethic, adopted a new policy for Clergy Ethics training starting in 2023. All those seeking standing are required to attend yearly Ethics training.
If you have taken an ethics workshop through an organization outside of CCIW a copy of your certificate of completion must be provided to the Regional Office, [email protected]. If you are a Chaplain and have taken continuing education or are a trainer for your workplace, please contact Rev. Richard Hamilton, [email protected], with a description of the training and certificate of completion of workshop(s) so it may be reviewed for meeting the ethics requirement.
In 2025, training that you would like to have considered for Ethics credit must have prior approval from the Regional Minister.
If you have any problems, contact Peggy O’Neal at the Regional Office,
[email protected].
