Eleven Trees Planted at Crystal

Eleven trees went into the ground this fall at the Crystal Conference Center Frankfort, MI. Arborist Jim Grabowski chose species suited to the camp and marked where each should stand; his crew planted and staked them, and volunteers did the mulching, wrapping, and watering. White and red oaks, sugar and red maples, paper birches, a white pine, and a sugarberry now grow there. Every one was given in memory or in honor of someone.

Ron Osgood gave a white oak in memory of his father, Rev. Russell G. Osgood; a red oak in memory of his mother, Pearl K. Osgood; and a sugar maple in memory of his brother, Rev. Roger D. Osgood.

Austin Bartman gave a sugarberry in honor of Linda Crandall and red maples in honor of Aaron Bert Bartman III and Adalae Jane Bartman.

Jill Forton and her family gave a red maple in honor of John Folkertsma.

Armand and Jane Aronson gave a paper birch in honor of Libby (Aronson) Carlson.

Neil Topliffe gave a white pine and a paper birch in honor of Rev. Eugene James.

Tim and Jennifer Murtaugh gave a white oak in memory of their parents, Rex Chaney and Joyce Brown and Clyde and Iris Murtaugh.

Tim Murtaugh of the Crystal Commission says the hope is to plant ten more next fall. Each tree is $450 planted. Partial donations are also accepted.

Donations are accepted on the Region’s giving portal or by writing a check to the Living Waters Region, 401 W Jefferson St., Bloomington, IL 61701.
