Camp Crystal Ministry Receives Fellowship Funding through Green Chalice Initiative

Grace Powers Named to 2026 Justice and Creation Summer Fellowship Cohort

Frankfort, MI — Camp Crystal and the future Living Waters Region are pleased to announce the selection of Grace Powers as a participant in the 2026 Justice and Creation Summer Fellowship, a national initiative of Green Chalice and Disciples Home Missions.

The fellowship includes a $3,000 grant to support Grace’s summer ministry, with the majority designated as a stipend for her work and the remainder available to strengthen local ministry efforts. The award affirms Grace’s leadership and commitment to a strong and growing witness rooted in intergenerational faith, environmental stewardship, and justice-centered ministry. According to Green Chalice ministers, Rev. Carol Devine and Rev. Scott Hardin-Nieri, her application stood out for its clear commitment to fostering meaningful change within her community while engaging the gifts and wisdom of people across generations.

“This is good news!” wrote Michael Dirksen, Crystal Commission Chair, and Dean of Camp Crystal. “[The fellowship] brings funds for Grace’s internship, and further integrates the work we are doing at Crystal with the work of Green Chalice more broadly.”

As part of the summer fellowship, Grace will collaborate with ministry leaders to develop and implement a project that aligns her passions with the needs and vision of the Camp Crystal community. She will also participate in a national cohort of fellows, engaging in training, reflection, and shared learning focused on climate justice, creation care, and community resilience.

The program includes a series of gatherings throughout the summer, equipping fellows to deepen their understanding of environmental justice and to grow as leaders within their local contexts. Fellows are also invited to complete Climate Ambassador Training and to contribute a final presentation reflecting on the impact of their work.

This year’s cohort is supported in part by a legacy gift from Heights Christian Church in Houston, Texas, whose commitment to radical hospitality, climate action, and anti-racism continues to shape and inspire the fellowship’s mission.

Camp Crystal and the future Living Waters Region look forward to the ways this summer will further strengthen partnerships, inspire new initiatives, and tell a story of faithful innovation grounded in hope.
