CCIW Disciples Women Serve Others

Each year our region’s Disciples Women adopt a mission project in conjunction with our annual CCIW spring gathering.  Although we were unable to meet in person for The Gathering in recent years due to COVID precautions, CCIW Disciples Women have continued taking on projects to serve others.

We have collected offerings to fund clean water wells in the Democratic Republic of Congo through Disciples4Water and the Community of Disciples of Christ in Congo.  Following the devastating tornado that struck Taylorville, IL, our offerings were designated for Trees for Taylorville.  Last year’s mission project was to support the efforts of Union Christian Church (DOC), Franklin, IN, to provide shoes for Afghan refugees temporarily housed at nearby Camp Atterbury while awaiting resettlement in the U.S.

This year’s project is to raise funds for Creation Care at Camp Walter Scott, focusing on ecological trail signage that will provide opportunities for teaching about God’s Creation and our care of it.  Offerings for this project may be brought to The Gathering in-person or watch party sites on Saturday, April 21st.  Donations may also be sent to CCIW, 401 W. Jefferson St., Bloomington, IL  61701.  Please make checks payable to CCIW, designated for CWS Creation Care.

Donations for this project will be received through May 31, 2023.
