Shoes for Afghan Refugees

By June 23, 2022July 1st, 2022No Comments

When 7,200 Afghan refugees arrived at Camp Atterbury in Indiana, many of them were barefoot.  Nearby Union Christian Church pledged to raise $20,000 which would provide 1,000 pairs of the needed shoes.  Cold weather would be coming, and the need for shoes was immediate!  Shoes were provided up front by Samaritan’s Feet, and the refugees have since been resettled in homes across the U.S.  However, the church is only a little more than halfway toward meeting its commitment.  If you would like to join our region’s Disciples Women in support of this project, you may mail checks payable to CCIW and designated for Shoes for Afghan Refugees to the regional office or give online at cciwdisciples.org.
