Sometimes I hear from small congregations who want to revitalize their congregation and desire calling a new church planter.
In the last few years the annual Disciples Leadership Academy lead by Pastor Terrell McTyer has provided a place for church planters and lay leaders to gather with other Disciples who are also starting new worshipping communities for training and building connections. As the CCIW Minister for New Church/Ministries, I have attended several times.
Of course, this year will be a different. Most importantly for you, is that everyone is welcome this year. If you and a few key leaders from your congregation wish to participate you are invited. While I guarantee that much, probably most, of the content will be applicable to your context, it will be framed for pastors and leaders planting new worshiping congregations. In addition to the relevant content, it will give you a taste of what it takes to start a congregation.
Pastor Terrell writes, “Church has changed drastically, and we’ll be addressing those shifts. Topics will include technology, post-pandemic pivots, marketing/branding/social impact, finances, innovation, team-building, etc.”
