The School for Ministry launched its first Cohort on March 4 with an online study entitled “Overview of the Bible.” The School’s curriculum provides academic preparation, leadership development and spiritual formation to laity who have discerned a call to ministerial service in their local congregations. The 2019 Cohort consists of 12 students affiliated with the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ.
Overall, the 3-year hybrid educational program involves spiritual retreats, online coursework, a summer intensive retreat, and ecumenical workshops focused on topics of the day. At the end of the course of study, cohort members will earn a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry. The certificate serves as a prerequisite for Commissioned Ministry in the Disciples of Christ, Lay Ministry in the United Church of Christ, or general ministerial leadership in a range of church settings.
