Dear Prospective Student
Thank you for your interest in the School for Ministry sponsored by the CCIW (Disciples of Christ) and the Illinois Conference of the United Church of Christ. The School serves as a training ground for Commissioned Ministers (DoC) and Lay Ministers (UCC). Our goal is to help aspiring leaders gain the ability to become faithful, well-qualified pastors and ministers.
You will be part of a Cohort that will journey through a three-year process of educational growth and spiritual development. Members of the Cohort will take classes online in the spring and fall, gather for intensive classes each summer and have the support of a mentor, spiritual director, and coach. Being part of a learning community is one the strong features of the cohort structure. At the end of the program, you will earn a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry. The attached brochure provides additional information.
The School for Ministry is now accepting applications for its 2019 Cohort. Classes begin on March 4. Application materials are due no later than February 15, 2019.
We invite you to complete the attached Application form and return it by the application deadline. A letter of recommendation form is also included. The recommendation form should be completed by a leader in your congregation who supports your goals for ministry.
We look forward to your participation in this program. Feel free to contact me by email if you have questions.
Warm regards,
Lorrie Reed
I am currently a commissioned minister in the IL/WI region. I am interested only in taking the coursework.
Hi Maxine, I have forwarded your comment on to Lorrie, who is in charge of the SFM. Thanks for your interest in the School for Ministry. Jeff
