School for Ministry Calls First Executive Director

The School for Ministry, a collaborative effort of our region and the Illinois Conference of the United Church of Christ has called its first Executive Director, the Rev. Lorrie Reed. Rev. Reed who is a UCC Pastor, brings extensive background in education, administration and ministry. Our School Board, made up of UCC and DOC laity and clergy looks forward to working with Rev. Reed to raise up, develop and equip homegrown leaders for our congregations.

Rev. Lorrie C. Reed, M. Div., Ph.D., is an ordained minister, researcher, preacher, teacher, life-long educator, mentor, systemic change specialist, and author. Her professional experiences include service as a secondary school teacher, high school associate principal, middle school principal, curriculum director, university professor, interim Dean and consultant. Ministry is her third career. She is currently the Associate Pastor for Christian Education at Grace United Church of Christ in Sauk Village, Illinois.

Rev. Lorrie is the author of several books and holds a Ph.D. in Research Methodology, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, a Master’s degree in Theological Studies, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Bachelor’s degree in English education. She is actively involved in developing and sharing Christian educational materials. Most of all, she finds joy in serving the needs of God’s people.

She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Spending time with family is one of her favorite pastimes. Rev. Lorrie lives in Chicago with her husband of more than four decades.
