Increased need for Disaster Kits & Buckets – What is happening in the Carolinas tells us that there will soon be increased need for disaster supplies from Church World Service, especially Flood Cleanup Buckets. Your local church can help in a meaningful way by either assembling School or Health Kits or Cleanup Buckets or by collecting supplies to be included in the kits or buckets or collecting cash. Whatever our church can do and collect can be brought to the Regional Assembly in Bloomington, IL.
October 19-20. A truck will be there to pick up all the supplies and they will be transported to the Ferncliff Church World Service Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) in Little Rock, Arkansas. Complete information on items for the kits and buckets and their preparation can be found at www.cwsglobal.org. – click on “Take Action” and “CWS Kits”.
Mission Trip to Little Rock Disaster Assistance Center – November 10 – 16, 2018 – A “hands on” mission trip is planned to the CWS Disaster Assistance Center in Little Rock. There is room for 18 participants. The primary task is to assemble kits and buckets from supplies donated by Illinois Disciples and UCC congregations and to inspect kits and buckets sent from churches across the U.S. Other opportunities will be to visit Heifer Ranch, assist with a food pantry at a local Disciples church, etc.
