In the middle of a month of Eastertide services called Party People, Gilead Chicago (a new DoC and UCC church start) held a garden party. April 22nd was a little chilly, and our plans to meet in the greenhouse didn’t work out — so we ended up having our “garden party” service in a parking lot! Still: we got to partner with The Genesis Project at A Just Harvest (AJH). The congregation donated and planted native perennial plants in two locations: in front of the greenhouse facing the street where AJH is located, and along Gale School, a neighborhood elementary school where The Genesis Project is redeveloping a large garden area for community gatherings, growing food, and learning.
