The Search Begins for Two Associate Regional Ministers

Our Regional Church Council is pleased to announce a search process for two new Pastoral Staff positions for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the intention of the Council and Personnel committee to find qualified persons who reflect the amazing diversity of our regional church and who will join a team who are helping us move into a new day.

The first position will focus on communications: helping our congregations to be in touch with each other and to tell their stories through new media to the world around them. We envision a “story corps” (Google this) type ministry to collect and tell stories of our Life Giving/Life Changing ministries. This person will lead a team in producing video/imaging about our congregations and for our congregations to use in social media. They will also help us highlight ongoing ministries of the region—Camp, Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism (PRAR), Disciple Women. This ministry will offer support, training and encouragement to congregational leaders who want help with creating social media presence. Coming soon a new website to overflow with stories called: LifeGivingLifeChanging.org—Disciples—no longer to be the best kept secret.

The second position is related to our General Church “Mission First” emphasis on Children, Youth and Young Adults. The focus of this ministry position will be to bring unity to our Youth and Camping Ministry, and to promote spiritual formation for children, youth and young adults, and those who work alongside them. This person will help us find ways to engage in ministry with children, youth and young adults beyond our doorsteps. Look for strengthening of what we already do, and moving into new possibilities.

Rev. Scott Woolridge will continue as Associate Regional Minister with specific focus on Congregational Services (south/central); Vision and Planning; Leadership Development; Transformation Ministry. Among the areas of focus will be New Day spiritual formation for congregational leaders, training coaches, and helping us to launch a School for Ministry.

In addition:
Rev. Jeff Zimmerman leads our New Church/Ministry Team. Rev. Tom Yang leads our NAPAD ministry with Asian Disciple congregations. Rev. Beth Rupe will continue as Disciple Women’s Ministry Coordinator. Laura Williams as our Camp Host. Rev. Tim Akers who has served as Interim for Youth Ministry, and Rev. Jared Reno who has been part time Camp Program will stay on until our new positions are filled and operating.

My role will continue to focus on Team Leadership, Spiritual Deepening, Pastoral Care and Congregational Support, Leadership Empowerment, PRAR, Vision and Planning, and Administration. I also represent us at General Church and Ecumenical gatherings.

The full position descriptions and postings can be viewed on our website at cciwdisciples.org. Deadline for responding is December 31, 2017.
