Illinois passes budget -finally

As we go to press the state of Illinois passed a budget. Stay tuned to see what got funded and at what levels. Let’s pray that social service agencies and public education can begin to recover….

Everyone welcome to gather for dinner the evening before Annual Assembly

Many of those who attend our Annual Assembly are in town the evening before. We are organizing dinner at a restaurant for fellowship and conversation. This is open to everyone. Each attendee will pay their own bill. Please RSVP by email to [email protected] with Annual Assembly Dinner as the subject – just indicate how many people. We will meet at Destihl at 6:30 p.m. 318 Towanda Ave, Normal. Ask for the ICC table. Do NOT go to their new larger venue on Greenbriar Drive in north Normal.

Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism event open to all

The Grace Community Christian Church, Aurora. PRAR team will lead a training on microaggressions. Rev. Yvonne Gilmore will host. Register by going to the Christian Church Illinois Wisconsin Disciples website, click on the clergy ethics page for this description, and then click on “ethics registration” to sign up. The cost is $35 which includes lunch.

Rerouting the School to Prison Pipeline

A date has also been set for the third “Rerouting the School to Prison Pipeline”. It will be held Sept. 30 at First Christian Church (DoC), Virden. Dietra Wise Baker from St. Louis will again be the keynoter with a panel discussion following. The cost for is $15 which includes lunch. Registration will be opening soon.
