We’re on the Move

That’s right, we’re moving! After more than fifty years in one location, the Regional church office is ready for a new adventure.

Ministry has changed, technology has changed. Decades ago, most of Regional church ministry happened in the office with the help of a landline telephone, typewriter and a secretary. Today, most of Regional church ministry happens with a laptop and a cell phone. Our clergy staff work from their home offices – in three places around Illinois. Several part-time staff members work remotely also. With email and video conferencing, communication and meetings often take place over long distances.

In this new day, there is no need for a building to house several full-time staff members. There is a need for a receptionist/office manager to facilitate communication and record-keeping. We have entered into a covenant agreement with First Christian Church, Bloomington to use an office and storage space. The Regional Church Council has approved the move and the sale of our office building.

The move will save thousands of dollars a year. The Regional church is in very good financial health. We are called to be good stewards of the gifts God gives. Sharing space and ministry with First Christian, Bloomington is an exciting new adventure! We ask for your prayers in this transition and we look forward to sending more updates soon.

  • Teresa – Happy to see you continuing the innovative thinking. Solid stewardship of both physical and human resources. Tell my good friend Scott hello for me. Blessings to all of you in the region, and may you and your family have a merry Christmas. Charlie Gaines

This change is great. I know of another region who combined their church camp facilities with the regional office. Continued blessings to all of you at the regional level.

Congratulations! When I joined the regional staff in 1964, we needed additional space, so we added two offices in the basement. Later I was using one of them. As one of my favorite hymns says, “Time makes ancient good uncouth…” (and ancient buildings unnecessary.)

The Region is moving in more ways than one! Good news, start a movement !

  • Wonderful news! Especially about the Region being in good financial health. God bless all involved in this change. There, I said it: “change”.

P.S. But with no Subway next door where will the Regional Elders eat lunch? Ha!
