Executive pastor of North American Pacific/Asian Disciples resigns

The North American Pacific/Asian Disciples Board has received the resignation of Rev. Jinsuk (John) Chun as executive pastor for North American Pacific/Asian Disciples, a position he has held both in interim and settled capacities for three years. His resignation was effective, Nov. 30, 2015 to allow Rev. Chun to spend more time with family and concentrate on improving his health.

Chun said, “I am so grateful that NAPAD provided me with abundant gifts and the opportunity to serve the church. I will never forget your love and I will keep it my whole life. I will always pray for NAPAD.”

John Roh, moderator of the NAPAD board, stated, “The NAPAD family is sorry that John is leaving his position as executive pastor, but we have decided to accept his resignation and honor his will. We would like to thank him for his leadership and commitment to the NAPAD community, regional, and general church. We wish him the best in his next endeavor.”

The NAPAD board is meeting December 10-12, 2015 in Oakland, CA. Sharon E. Watkins, General Minister and President will attend as usual, but will also be available to consult as is customary during executive leadership transitions per The Design of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
