Jim Wallis to Speak at Eureka College

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), the Pro-Reconciliation Anti-Racism Team of CCIW, Eureka College, the Presbytery of Chicago of the Presbyterian Church USA and Quad City Interfaith will be co-hosting Jim Wallis Speaks: America’s Original Sin and Braving the Beloved Community with Jim Wallis on April 7, 2017 at 1 PM at Becker Auditorium at Eureka College in Eureka, IL.

Mr Wallis is the President and Founder of Sojourners, editor and chief of Sojourners magazine, a best selling author with twelve books to his credit, a public theologian, and speaker and international commentator on ethics and public life. His lecture will focus on his book America’s Original Sin: Racism, White Privilege, and the Bridge to a New America.  Following Mr. Wallis’ address, there will be a panel response. Our panelists will include: Nayoung Ha, Organizing Director. Korean American Resource and Cultural Center, Prairie Rose Seminole, Program Director, American Indian Alaska Native Ministries, and  Jessica Vazquez Torres, National Organizer, Crossroads Antiracism Organizing &Training.  Following the panel response there will also be  a time for questions. The event will conclude with a reception and book signing where the conversation may continue.

We hope that you will mark your calendars and plan to be a part of this important conversation where we confront the sin of racism in our nation, consider how to build bridges and seek to live reconciled lives as a part of the beloved community.

While this event will be free to those attending, you will need a ticket.  Registration deadline is April 4, 2017.
