The Reverend Dr. Lisa Wilson Davison

Lisa Wilson Davison is the Johnnie Eargle Cadieux Professor of Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK. Joining the PTS faculty in 2010, Dr. Davison received a BA from Lynchburg College, a MDiv from Brite Divinity School, TCU, a MA from Vanderbilt University, a PhD from Vanderbilt University. She is an ordained Disciples Minister and has served the church as pastor of congregations in Texas and Kentucky, a Chaplain at Culver Stockton College, Dean at Lynchburg College, and professor at Lexington Theological Seminary. Dr. Davison shares her expertise in the study of the Christian First Testament, Women of the Bible, Sexuality and the Bible, Issues of Gender, Race, Economics and Justice and the Bible, and Christian use and miss-use of the Christian First Testament through her teaching, her preaching in local congregations and her speaking at camps and conferences across the country. Her publications include contribution to the New Proclamation Series, Year C (Fortress, 2009), sermon in Those Preaching Women: A Multicultural Collection (Judson , 2008), introductory essays on the major prophets for The College Study Bible (St. Mary’s Press, 2007), entries for the Encyclopedia of the Stone- Campbell Movement (Eerdmans, 2005),“Job Commentary” for the New Interpreter’s Study Bible (Abingdon Press, 2003), an Essay in Tabletalk (Chalice Press, 2003), Preaching Women of the Bible (Chalice Press, 2006) and several articles in DiscipleWorld magazine and Bible studies in JustWomen magazine. Dr. Davison is married to The Reverend Michael Davison.
